Omanga condemns tribal profiling remarks, defends Uhuru
Former nominated senator Millicent Omanga has strongly criticised what she termed as tribal profiling remarks directed at retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Mt Kenya region, warning against ethnic divisions in political discourse.
In a post shared on her X account on Saturday, May 23, 2026, Millicent Omanga told the UDA leaders to stop tribal profiling and show respect to the fourth President Uhuru Kenyatta, and the vast Mt Kenya region.

“STOP tribal profiling and show respect to former President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Kikuyu community,” Omanga said.
Impacts of the mountain in formation of UDA
Omanga argued that the Mt Kenya region played a significant role in the formation and rise of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), which propelled President William Ruto to power.
She further expressed concern that some Members of Parliament from the region have supported the remarks she was criticising, terming the situation unfortunate and warning against what she described as growing ethnic insensitivity in politics.

“The truth is that Kikuyu votes played a major role in building UDA and making Kasongo president. Shame that there are even MPs from the region cheering such remarks,” Omanga said.
Attack on Uhuru
These remarks come just a day after a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders launched a scathing attack on Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of breaching legal and constitutional expectations by remaining active in partisan politics instead of retreating into a statesman role.
Speaking during women and youth empowerment drive in Busia County, the leaders warned the retired Head of State against what they termed as persistent political provocation.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, who led the delegation in separate engagements in Budalang’i and Butula constituencies, urged Kenyatta to emulate his predecessors by stepping back from active politics and fostering national unity.
“I respect Uhuru as a former president and a leader I have worked with in government but he should now serve as a beacon of peace, unity and a source of statesmanlike counsel,” Wetang’ula said.
