Anglican Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit has challenged politicians seeking leadership responsibility to allow God to search through their hearts and refine their motives.

Speaking in Kajiado County on December 6, 2025, Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit reminded them that the hallmark of true leadership is about serving the people and called on them to deeply examine their motives for seeking power.Approved leadership

“God approves leadership that seeks to better the people and not that of serving oneself. As a church, we are praying that God will give us a leader who will improve the lives of Kenyans. We pray that He blesses all who will come forth, searches through their hearts and their intentions, and gives us His choice,” he stated.

The man of cloth also spoke of asserting that he remains hopeful God will grant his best choice to lead Kenya in 2027.

“We will continue to pray for all our leaders from across the political divide. I urge them to also pray and let God search through their hearts. That is our prayer as the clergy for the nation,” he stated.

Ole Sapit parted his message by reassuring that the clergy retain its vocal approach over issues of national importance and pointing out misdeeds where necessary.

He reiterated the role of the church in shaping the course of the nation, a responsibility he emphasised needed to be approached with a profound sense of responsibility.

Matiang’i’s appraisal

“We will continue providing direction and hold our county together through prayers. “When things go wrong, we will speak of them without fear too,” he added.

His remarks came after Fred Matiang’i challenged the clergy to maintain their bold stand and guide the nation through the upcoming electioneering period as they have done in recent times.

Speaking at the same function, Matiang’i singled out the Anglican Church of Kenya archbishop for taking the leading role in providing the society with a sense of direction.

“I want to register my full support for Bishop Ole Sapit and the leaders of the NCCK for the courageous stance you have taken regarding the leadership and governance of this nation.

The presidential hopeful concluded by reminding the clergy of his unwavering support and expressed confidence that they will uphold the crucial role of guiding on issues of morality and national importance.
