ODM pledges unity and stability in honour of Raila Odinga
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has reaffirmed its commitment to unity, stability, and the principles of its late leader, Raila Odinga, during a memorial event at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay town.
Speaking on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Raila Odinga Stadium, the party leadership, led by Party Leader Oburu Odinga, emphasised the importance of staying true to Raila’s vision.
“In his own wisdom, he led us into the broad-based government. We shall not deviate from his vision,” Oburu said, highlighting the party’s dedication to continuing the late leader’s work.
The statement came as ODM leaders urged supporters across the country to remain committed to the party, strengthen its foundations, and uphold its core values.

“We want ODM to remain united and stable. We must all work together to make it stronger,” Oburu added, underscoring the need for cohesion within the party ranks.
The leaders also reminded party members and the public that Raila Odinga’s principles of a united, stable, and peaceful Kenya remain central to ODM’s mission.
Elsewhere, Mandera Deputy Governor Ali Maalim cautioned that the party risks fragmentation along regional lines following the death of party leader Raila Odinga, citing emerging internal divisions and the rise of local political power centres.
Raila’s political influence
The memorial event, organised by Homabay County’s party leadership under National Chairperson Gladys Wanga, served as a moment to reflect on Raila’s enduring influence in Kenyan politics.
The gathering was marked by a mix of emotion, nostalgia, and renewed commitment to ODM’s ideals, reinforcing the message that the party intends to carry forward Raila’s legacy.

Party officials also announced that the memorial tour would continue, with the next event scheduled in Awendo town, Migori County.
The event in Migori will be hosted by Governor George Ochilo Ayacko, Minority Leader in the National Assembly Junet Mohamed, and the county’s party leadership, further demonstrating ODM’s commitment to engaging members and supporters across all regions.
Through these events, ODM aims to maintain cohesion within the party while honouring the memory of Raila Odinga.
The leadership’s call to unity and collective action reflects a strategy to ensure the party remains robust and focused on advancing the principles and vision of its late leader, while continuing to influence Kenya’s democratic landscape.
