Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga has hinted at ditching Uhuru’s Jubilee party for Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance party.
Kahiga, who was speaking during a church service attended by Deputy President William Ruto, stated that Jubilee is now becoming lonely.
The county head stated that he is the only governor currently left in the ‘lonely’ Jubilee.
Kahiga also ruled out the possibility of joining forces with ODM leader Raila Odinga.
“Nyumba yetu ya Jubilee imesambaratika na ni mimi pekee yangu nimesalia Jubilee kutoka mlima Kenya, Jana tumeona magavana wa Mt Kenya wakihaka Jubilee na kujiunga na vyama vingine kama PNU. Sasa ni mimi pekee governor from Mt.Kenya nimesalia Jubilee walakini upweke unaua, but one thing I want to assure you I won’t join Odm, tupigie William Ruto kura,” he said.
Speaking after the governor’s speech, Ruto advised Kahiga to join his counterparts who have since decamped to the nascent party.
The second-in-command told the governor that standing alone could prove dangerous for him.
“Almost 85 percent ya watu walikuwa Jubilee tumeenda kwa ‘Kazi ni Kazi’ sasa Kahiga usihangaike sana because we saw yesterday, those who were remaining in the team also decamped. I think it is too risky for you to stay there alone,” Ruto said.
