No show for Sifuna as Caleb Amisi and Osotsi attend ODM Parliamentary Group meeting
Orange Democratic Movement Secretary General and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has been notably absent as the party held its Parliamentary Group meeting in Nairobi on Tuesday, March 2, 2026, even as Saboti Constituency Member of Parliament and the ousted Deputy Organising Secretary to ODM, Caleb Amisi, and ODM Deputy Party leader Godfrey Osotsi turned up for the session.
The meeting, convened by the Orange Democratic Movement Party leader and Siaya senator Oburu Odinga, brought together Members of Parliament and senators to deliberate on key legislative matters and the party’s political direction amid growing internal debate.
Sifuna’s absence quickly drew attention, coming at a time when the party is grappling with divergent views over its stance on national issues and possible cooperation frameworks with rival factions.

There has been a growing rift in the ODM party with the emergence of opposing factions within it. Edwin Sifuna has been leading an opposing pact that is against the decisions of the ODM Party to ally with the ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance, while the party leader, Oburu Odinga, has been leading an ally of party members in pushing for negotiations to ally with the UDA.
Amisi, who was ousted as the party’s deputy organising secretary general, has been one of the vocal leaders allied to the Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi group and has been a great critic of the party affairs and national politics. He attended the parliamentary group meetings despite being seen as a rebel to the party in the past.
Osotsi, who threatened to quit ODM if Sifuna is removed as party secretary general, also attended the meeting and was among the officials who addressed the Parliamentary Group meeting.
Despite Osotsi and Amisi attending the meeting, the Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Babu Owino, was also conspicuously missing.
Intentions of ODM Parliamentary Group Meeting.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has convened its Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting today, bringing together members of Parliament and senators to deliberate on the party’s recent work and current political stance.
Confirming the parliamentary group meeting while arriving at the event at Parliament Buildings on Tuesday, March 2, 2026, Junet Mohamed, the minority leader in the National Assembly, confirmed that the meeting would focus on what the party has accomplished over the last two months and its present position on key national and political issues.
“…the members of parliament on party position and what the party has done for the last two months and what position the party has taken on certain issues, and then we will be able to speak to the country after that”, Junet said.

Today’s PG meeting is therefore seen as a key moment for the party to evaluate its performance
The major issue expected at today’s meeting is the discussion on the implementation report of the 10-point agenda, which is due to be tabled on March 7, 2026.
