‘Ninakuambia ujiuzulu’ – Aldai MP Kitany tells CS Muturi to resign after speaking of abductions
Aldai Member of Parliament (MP) Marianne Kitany has called for the resignation of the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management, Justin Muturi, following his recent remarks on abduction.
In an undated video, Kitany urged the CS to resign, stating that he cannot be criticising the government that he is part of.
According to Kitany, Muturi is in a better position as a public service CS to address and find a solution to the abduction cases, including that of his son, adding that by publicly condemning the government, he has failed in his work and that he should resign.
“Kama mtoto alikuwa abducted alafu aka kuwa released, kuna kitu inaitwa kwenda kureport kwa police station. Tangu hiyo miezi sita, tangu akuwe released, hujaenda kureport kwa police station. You are the minister for public service, meaning that hao watu wote wanareport kwako ukikuja kwa media kutuambia.
“Na wewe ndio minister hao watu si umekosa kazi yako? Si umeshindwa na kazi? So, bado unafanya nini kwa hiyo ofisi? Wewe hujiuzulu kuja ongea huku nje kama raia mwema huwezi gonga serikali ukiwa ndani yake,” Kitany said.
She further threatened to sponsor a censure motion to the national parliament against the CS if he failed to resign.
“Kama huwezi heshimu serikali yenye unaifanyia kazi, mimi kama mjumbe, kazi yangu ni kitu inaitwa oversight. Ninakuambia wewe ujiuzulu na usipo jiuzulu mimi nitapeleka motion bunge ya ku censure wewe,”she said.
Apart from MP Kitany, other political leaders such as Saboti MP Caleb Amisi and DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa have also called for Muturi’s resignation.
Muturi on abduction
Speaking during a press briefing on Sunday, January 12, 2025, Muturi condemned the Kenya Kwanza regime for its handling of abductions and forced disappearances of youths, including his own son’s abduction.
Muturi said that the security forces had failed to prevent the forced disappearance after claiming that they were not involved, adding that his son was abducted six months ago, and after his release, none of his abductors have been charged.
In addition, the former attorney general noted the government’s silence on the series of abductions, adding that as a victim he has raised his voice so that the issue can be debated and put to a stop.
“My son was abducted and disappeared. I was not sure whether he was alive or dead. Despite making several requests, I was unable to trace him. Now, more than six months after the ordeal and his release by unknown individuals, he has not been charged with any offense. The security sector claims they are not involved in the abductions; interestingly, they have failed to prevent these incidents from happening publicly in broad daylight,” Muturi said.
