Saboti Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi called for the resignation of the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Justin Muturi after he criticised the current regime for its handling of abduction cases including that of his son.

In a statement on Sunday, January 12, 2025, Amisi said that Muturi should resign from his position as a state official instead of publically condemning the government that he is working for since he believes it has gone against the principles of social justice and the rule of law.

Rubbishing Muturi’s press briefing addressing abduction and forceful disappearances, the vocal MP said that the CS has nothing to lose if he resigns noting that he previously served as the country’s third in command for ten years, as senior magistrate, a member of parliament, attorney general and now cabinet minister.

“My good friend @HonJBMuturi you have served as Senior magistrate, a member of parliament, a speaker of the NA for ten years, Attorney General and now Cabinet minister. You have had it all. There is nothing you lose by resigning from a government you think has gone against the principles of social justice and the rule of law.

“That is how you can contribute immensely to the struggle for a better Kenya. Press conferences are for the cowards and faint-hearted. #JustinMuturi” MP Amisi wrote on his official X account.

Mutiri on abduction

Speaking during a press briefing on Sunday, Muturi condemned the Kenya Kwanza regime for its handling of abductions and forced disappearance of youths including his own son’s abduction.

Muturi said that the security forces had failed to prevent the forced disappearance after claiming that they were not involved adding that his son was abducted six months ago and after his release none of his abductors have been charged.

“My son was abducted and disappeared. I was not sure whether he was alive or dead. Despite making several requests, I was unable to trace him. Now, more than six months after the ordeal and his release by unknown individuals, he has not been charged with any offence the security sector claims they are not involved in the abductions; interestingly, they have failed to prevent these incidents from happening publicly in broad daylight,” Muturi said.

In addition, the CS noted the government’s silence on the series of abductions adding that as a victim he has raised his voice so that the issue can be debated and put to a stop.

The former attorney general further urged the government to allow youths to raise issues affecting them since it is their democratic right.

“Since I am also a victim while serving in this government, I have taken this unusual step so that abductions and extra-judicial activities can be debated in the country in order to find a solution. If left unchecked, it can plunge the country into chaos and anarchy.

“If youths have issues with the government that they want to raise, let us allow them to do so because that is what democracy is all about. We are a democratic country. It is our duty as government to ensure that everybody lives freely and is able to say what they think,” he added.
