Ndindi Nyoro scoffs at Ruto’s past claims of mentoring him politically
Ndindi Nyoro had opened up on happening days before his ouster as National Assembly budget chair, in what heralded the strained relationship with President William Ruto.
Speaking to a local TV station on Friday, December 26, Nyoro alluded to hypocritical remarks from Ruto when he stated that he was mentoring the MP during one of his interviews with the local media stations.
Relationship with Ndindi
“There was a time the president came to Mt. Kenya and was hosted by a media station at his Sagana Lodge. It was the one I was being hounded around and his guys in parliament saying how I was misusing my position, and he was asked about my relationship with him.”
Mentoring me
“Characteristically of him, he said I was a young man, he was mentoring, and I was left wondering how that mentoring was related to me and the kind of things I was going through. I knew, of course, some of the decisions must have come from a higher gauge. I wondered why someone would try to benefit from my miseries instead of just letting me suffer,” he said in his recollection.

The MP, who also disclosed that it was around that time in April 2025 when they last spoke with the president, believes the war waged against him was sanctioned by people in higher echelons of the government.”
He, however, maintained that he holds no resentment or rancour from how things panned out.
He reiterated that he had decided not to hold enmity against any fellow politicians.
“When people sit down and plot things against you, if you go berserk, you end up losing as you play into their game. I disagree with most of the government policies on politics or governance, but besmirching and name-calling are what I will not engage in. I decided I want to define my politics differently, and this has informed the approach I have taken in dealing with some issues,” he said.
The interview in April 2025 came as Ruto embarked on his first tour of the Mt. Kenya region after the impeachment of his erstwhile deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.
