Ndegwa Njiru slams Ruto ahead of State of the Nation address
By Kiprono Keileb, November 20, 2025Human rights activist Ndegwa Njiru has launched a fierce attack on President William Ruto ahead of his planned State of the Nation address to a joint sitting of Parliament, describing the upcoming speech as another moment filled with untruths and political showmanship.
In a statement posted on his X account on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Njiru, known for his stance on matters of governance and accountability, framed the President’s address in a deeply critical light.
“The state of the lies address,” he stated, setting the tone for a strongly worded condemnation of what he believes are repeated inconsistencies in the President’s public communication.
He recalled a previous session in Parliament held on November 9, 2023, where the President stated that he had personally reached out to several Kenyans as examples of beneficiaries of his administration’s programmes.
“During a similar parliamentary session on Thursday, November 9, 2023, the pathological liar said that he had made calls to several Kenyans,” he stated
He pointed specifically to the story of a tuk-tuk operator referenced by the President, noting, “One of these Kenyans was Harrison Karisa Kenga, according to the ever-lying Ruto, Karisa, who worked as a tuk-tuk driver had accessed a hustler fund limit of Sh. 724,000,” Njiru added, stating that the President had said Karisa had benefited from the Hustler Fund in a significant way.
Njiru argued that such narratives were crafted for political theatrics and questioned their authenticity. He suggested that the absence of similar elaborate examples this time around may point to a gap in strategy.
“It seems that the man’s lies have dried up, or he might have forgotten to call his Karisa man and other stage-managed fellow conspirators,” he stated
The activist urged Kenyans to approach the President’s new speech with caution and patience. “Wacha tutulie tungojee uwongo,” he wrote, reinforcing his belief that the address would follow what he sees as a familiar pattern.
He concluded with a personal jab tied to national politics. “Bado nangojea my piece of cake nimeze bora tu Ruto asiiguze kama ile ya Oburu,” he concluded
Njiru’s remarks have stirred fresh debate online, adding tension to an already politically charged moment as the country awaits the President’s parliamentary address.
