Nakuru West MP Arama explains why Gikaria is best suited for senatorial seat
Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama has expressed confidence in Nakuru East MP David Gikaria, who has declared his interest in the senatorial seat in the 2027 elections.
Arama stated that Gikaria has the necessary experience and capacity to deliver effectively if given the opportunity to serve as senator.
“I know his capacity; he has been an MP three times and a councillor three times. I think he has the capacity,” Arama said.
Speaking on Manoti TV in a programme aired on Friday night, August 22, 2025, Arama highlighted Gikaria’s long track record in leadership, noting that he has served three terms as a Member of Parliament and three terms as a councillor. According to Arama, this wealth of experience makes him well-suited for the senatorial role.

His remarks come just days after Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika openly endorsed Gikaria for the position during a meeting with opinion leaders on Saturday, August 17, 2025.

During the gathering, Kihika urged residents of Nakuru East to allow Gikaria to pursue the senatorial seat in 2027, noting that he is currently serving his third term as MP. She expressed strong confidence that he has the ability to represent the county effectively in the Senate.
This endorsement was well received by opinion leaders who were present on that day, with them cheering up after the governor’s endorsement.
Meetings
The endorsement meeting, which was attended by a number of elected leaders from Nakuru County, was notable for the absence of Senator Tabitha ‘Keroche’ Karanja and Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara. Karanja has been at odds with Governor Kihika, while Jayne Kihara is a known ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Addressing concerns about the purpose of the meeting, Arama defended it, saying that it was part of a series of consultative forums where elected leaders from Nakuru come together to deliberate on the county’s political future.
He explained that the leaders had resolved to work in unity and support one another for various elective positions since they all represent the same people and share a common responsibility to deliver on development and representation.
