Murkomen, Soipan next in line to answer questions from lawmakers

Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Kipchumba Murkomen and his Environment, Climate Change and Forestry counterpart Soipan Tuya are expected to appear before Members of the National Assembly tomorrow to answer questions.
Murkomen will be responding, to, among others, a question by Machakos Woman Rep Joyce Kamene regarding the erection of a footbridge at the Hilton Garden Inn crossing as well as one by Rongo MP Paul Abuor on the delayed completion of the Riosiri-Rongo University-Cham Gi Wadu Road.
Mwingi West MP Gideon Mulyungi will seek to know from the CS strategies his ministry has put in place to ease traffic congestion in the city since the Nairobi Expressway became operational.
Mulyungi also wants the CS to explain the delay in the completion of construction of Kalisasi-Mumbuni Road, Phase I and Phase II, and stalled construction of Nguni-Nuu Road and Enziu Bridge in Kitui County as well as stalled construction of the Mwingi – Slaughter House Road.

Other questions will be from Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya on the upgrade to the bitumen standard of Kibwezi-Kitui-Kabati-Migwani-Mbondoni Road while his Suna West counterpart Peter Masara on the stalled construction of the Kokendi-Arombe Bridge in Suna West Constitu-ency.
Nyatike MP Tom Odege wants to know the fate of the stalled construction of the Masara-Sori-Agolomuok Road in Nyatike Constituency.
Other questions will be from Kiambaa MP John Njuguna regarding stalled road projects in the country, pending bills owed to contractors, and the reasons behind the delays.
Tuya will be responding to a question by Elgeyo Marakwet Woman Rep Caroline Ngelechei regarding the massive decrease in forest cover percent-age despite the ban of maize cultivation in the Plantation Establishment and Livelihood Improvement Scheme.
Mandera South MP Abdul Haro wants to know the impact of heat waves in the country.
Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa last week said he will be announcing every Thursday which CS will be appearing before the plenary.
“As I had indicated earlier this week, I will be up-dating the House every Thursday on which Cabinet Secretaries are scheduled to appear during the upcoming Wednesday afternoon plenary session,” said Ichung’wah.
