Chama Cha Kazi party leader Moses Kuria, TSP party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri, and Narc-Kenya counterpart Martha Karua will on Monday hold an exclusive meeting with members of more than 8 political parties in Naivasha.

According to an exclusive invite seen by People Daily Digital and verified to be true, members of the parties have been urged to confirm their attendance by today (Saturday) to help in facilitation activities.

The meeting will be held at Lake Naivasha Resort from 9 am and will be chaired by the three principles.

The invite states that each individual will be required to contribute Ksh5000.

“Dear Hon. Member. You are invited to the Mt. Kenya Forum on the 20th September 2021 at the Lake Naivasha Resort. The conference package is Ksh 5,000 per person. Confirm attendance by Saturday 18th September,” the statement read.

Kuria, Kiunjuri, and Martha Karua launched a Mt Kenya party leaders caucus to push for the region’s interests ahead of the 2022 general elections.

They have been meeting leaders of different parties in the region in a bid to consolidate a united front.

Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and ex-Kiambu Governor William Kabogo are the latest entrants into the Mt Kenya unity talks, and they are expected to attend the meeting.

About a month ago,7 political parties signed a pre-election deal to unite the region.

Among the parties that signed the agreement includes former Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti (Rebuild and Restore Party), Esau Kioni of the Democratic Party (DP), Mpuru Apuri (National Ordinary People Empowerment Union (NOPEU) and Thuo Mathenge (The New Democrats).

Others included the People’s Party of Kenya(PPK), Party of Democratic Unity(PDU), Tujibebe Wakenya Party (TWK) as well as Chama cha Kazi (CCK).

Contacted for comment, TSP party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri said he isn’t allowed to comment on the matter.

Kiunjuri said that Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua is the best to answer anything about the planned meeting.

“I’m not allowed to comment on the matter right now,” Kiunjuri said.

In an interview with the writer, Party of Democratic Unity (PDU) national chairman Isaiah Gichu failed to comment about the Monday meeting.

But he requested leaders across Mount Kenya to unite their followers and speak in one voice.

“Good afternoon sir, I don’t want to mention the matter. We have a secretariat that should answer your questions but what I would like to request our leaders is to spearhead the peace and unity of the region,” the PDU party leader said.

The Naivasha meeting is seen as part of the efforts spearheaded by the president to win over the region’s leadership, currently split between him and Ruto, to ensure that Mt Kenya goes to the next general elections united behind a common course.

Uhuru is said to be keen to reach out to Ruto’s allies to dissuade them from backing his deputy in the polls.
