Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo has accused President William Ruto of failing to align his public statements with the lived reality of Kenyans, warning that leaders must speak truthfully and consistently.

Speaking during an interview in a local station on Tuesday, June 2,2026, Ngogoyo questioned claims by government-aligned leaders that the President is delivering across sectors, arguing that many citizens feel disconnected from those assurances.

“Don’t be a lying President. You say one thing when you mean the other thing,” he said.

He further criticised what he termed as political bravado and overpromising by the administration.

“You cannot force everything on Kenyans. What mesmerises me is how only broad-based people in government seem to know that Ruto is working. It is only people in government,” he said.

He argued that workers in key sectors such as education are not experiencing the same impact being communicated by political leaders.

“It puzzles me how only the broad-based people in government seem to know that the President is working for teachers, lecturers and every sector of the economy. Yet when you ask the people in those sectors, they say otherwise. They feel this government is unresponsive to issues,” Ngogoyo said.

Ngogoyo projects 2027 political test for Ruto

He further warned that political reality would be tested in the 2027 General Election, saying public sentiment would ultimately determine the outcome.

“Where the rubber meets the road is not 2032, it is 2027. In 2027 he has two options, either to win or to lose. Mostly he will lose,” he said.

Ngogoyo added that a change in leadership could follow if dissatisfaction persists among voters.

“If he loses, someone else will lead this country better. They will not continue with the same issues this government has had,” he stated.

Government development push in Wajir

His remarks come against the backdrop of ongoing government development projects in northern Kenya, where President Ruto has pledged to accelerate infrastructure expansion.

In Wajir County, the President recently promised to transform Griftu town through major road upgrades, saying the government has set aside nearly Ksh1 billion for the project.

“Hii Griftu tumewapatia pesa karibu billioni moja ya kutengeneza hii barabara yenu hapa,” Ruto said during a visit to the area.

He said the initiative aims to convert the settlement into a modern town with improved infrastructure.

“Hii town, si hii inakaa kama kijiji kidogo? Sasa hii tutabadilisha ikae kama town,” he added.

Ruto linked the project to his Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, insisting that development must uplift underserved regions.

“Ama namna gani, si tulikubaliana bottom up? Wale wako chini tuwainue jameni ndio tutembee sisi wote pamoja,” he said.
