Moses Kuria slams new Kiambu mafia, vows region stands with Mt Kenya
By Kiprono Keileb, August 28, 2025Former presidential advisor Moses Kuria has fired a fiery warning at what he called the “new Kiambu Mafia,” insisting that Kiambu County will remain firmly part of the Mt Kenya region and will back the bloc unconditionally in the 2027 general election.
In a post on his official X account on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Kuria drew parallels between the present situation and a controversial group during Jomo Kenyatta’s era, warning that attempts to isolate Kiambu from Mt Kenya will fail.
“During Jomo Kenyatta’s rule, Kiambu suffered the ignominy of a cabal infamously referred to as the Kiambu Mafia. Now there is a new Kiambu Mafia in diapers laced with poopooh, which is claiming that Kiambu will not be in the Mt Kenya region,” Kuria wrote.

Kuria was categorical that Kiambu’s identity and political alignment are inseparable from the Mt Kenya region.
“Let me state categorically that Kiambu will always be part of Mt Kenya. And not an isolated Mt Kenya but one that will be a proud part and parcel of our wonderful nation, Kenya,” he emphasised.
He stressed that the Mt Kenya region, home to over six million voters, will unite in 2027 and cast their ballots as one bloc. Kuria made it clear that this support would be given freely, without demanding the presidency, the deputy president, or the position of Prime Cabinet Secretary.
“For avoidance of doubt, Mt Kenya will pit all their 6 million votes in one basket in 2027. They will do so unconditionally without demanding to be given the Presidency, the running mate, nor the Prime Cabinet Secretary. It is now clear some of these positions have the same value as a recycled toilet paper,” Kuria said.

Kuria’s post, laced with humour and pointed sarcasm, appeared aimed at critics who have recently questioned Kiambu’s loyalty to the Mt Kenya bloc and the region’s role in national politics. “So let’s relax and chew popcorn for another 92 weeks,” he concluded, signalling that the political drama will continue but affirming the region’s unwavering stance.
Political theatre
His statement is likely to reignite discussions on regional political alliances and the influence of Kiambu voters in shaping the 2027 general elections. By invoking historical context and blending sharp commentary with regional pride, Kuria has positioned himself at the centre of the ongoing political discourse around Mt Kenya and its electoral significance.
With less than two years to the next general election, Kuria’s bold remarks underscore the critical role Mt Kenya’s votes are expected to play and reaffirm the county’s place within the broader regional bloc.
