Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang has expressed confidence in his Siaya counterpart, Oburu Odinga’s, ability to steer the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) forward.

Speaking during an ODM meeting at the home of the Siaya Senator on Friday, October 24, 2025, where ODM delegates had gathered to congratulate him following his appointment as party leader, Kajwang said that with the party now under Oburu’s leadership, members have great hope in his guidance.

He likened the ODM party to a complex organism, explaining that its heart is in Luoland, the head in Western, the lungs at the Coast, and the kidneys in Nairobi.

He emphasised that ODM’s strength lies in its national character, not regional identity, and called for unity among members across the country.

Kajwang further stated that he has full confidence in Oburu Odinga’s temperament, wisdom, and maturity to lead all members of ODM, whether from the Coast, Nyanza, Western, or Nairobi, and expressed optimism that the party will stand united, especially as it prepares for the upcoming Ugunja by-election.

“ODM is a national party. And so we must ensure that these meetings that we are doing, we do them across the country, but I have the confidence that Okuru Odinga has the temperament, has the wisdom, and has the maturity to lead all members of ODM, be they from the coast, be they from Nyanza, be they from Western, or be they from Nairobi. I have that confidence,” Moses stated.

Oburu welcomes the appointment

Oburu Odinga, on his part, welcomed the visit by ODM members to his home and appreciated the overwhelming support following his appointment. He thanked the party fraternity from across Luo Nyanza for their encouragement and pledged not to let them down as he takes on his new role.

“The party fraternity from all over Luonyaza came to say to give a word of support for my party leadership. You have given me the support, and I want to thank you immensely for what you have done,” Oburu said
