Mbarire lauds Kindiki’s untiring efforts in making UDA a national party

Embu Governor Cecil Mbarire has praised Deputy President Kithire Kindiki for his concerted campaigns of popularising the ruling United Democratic (UDA) party nationwide.

Speaking during the handing over exercise of nomination certificates at the party’s headquarters on Friday, September 26, 2025, Mbarire stated that the a leading role in making the party a national outfit.

“We appreciate the leadership role you are playing in the party. Our leader has been a busy man, but you have taken the leadership mantle quite well. I appreciate the many national, county, and constituency meetings you continue to hold across the country. You have kept the UDA flag flying,” she stated.

“You are doing it as a national leader. You have not stuck to one corner. You have made UDA a truly national party by providing leadership across the country,” she stated.

Her sentiment comes after the party also revealed that it will not be fielding candidates in three elective seats at the parliamentary level.

Secretary General Hassan Omar, on Friday, September 26, 2025, disclosed that the ruling party will not field candidates in three parliamentary seats in the upcoming by-elections.

“We have agreed with the ODM that they will run in some elections and that we will not field candidates as UDA. For Baringo senate and Mbeere North, Malava and Banisa, UDA will field candidates without any ODM candidate being fielded,” he stated.

“For Kasipul, Ugunja, and Magarini, we will allow ODM to field any candidate, but we will join the ODM and go there to support the ODM candidate as a joint candidacy,” he stated.

Omar opined that the decision was reached to avoid unnecessary fights with their broad-based partners in government.

“We work as a team to demonstrate the spirit of broad-based government. The arrangement is to ensure we do not get mired in endless fights with our partners. We look forward to peaceful elections,” he added.

UDA candidates cleared to vie include Leonard Njeru for Mbeere North, David Athman Ndakwa for Malava, and Ahmed Maalim Hassan Alio for Banissa constituency in Mandera.

The by-elections are set to be conducted on November 27, 2025.
