Matiang’i: If elected president, I will not let Kenyans down
By Faith Lagat, October 5, 2025Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has reaffirmed his commitment to transformative leadership, pledging not to disappoint Kenyans if elected president in 2027.
Speaking at the Adventist Men Organisation (AMO) prayer breakfast at Lavington Seventh-day Adventist Church on October 5, 2025, Matiang’i assured Kenyans of a government anchored on efficiency, integrity, and service.
“If I am ever given the honour and privilege to serve this country in office, I pledge to you in this sanctuary that I will not let you, my fellow Kenyans, down. You will see a government of efficiency, integrity, and service,” he said.
Earlier, the former cs vowed to transform Kenya if elected president in 2027.
Matiang’i’s remarks come as he intensifies his campaign for the Jubilee Party’s presidential nomination ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Track record
The former CS pointed to his tenure in government as evidence of his action-oriented leadership. He cited the digital migration initiative as a key milestone that opened opportunities in the technology and media sectors.
“You will see the same spirit you saw in Jogoo House, the one in the interior of cleaning up, the same spirit in ICT of getting the right thing done. Imagine if we did not migrate on digital migration; where would we be today?” he posed.

He credited the migration for enabling content creation and job opportunities.
“The things you post on YouTube and all other platforms, I fought that war because of where we are today, including the jobs that have been created because of that particular initiative,” he added.

On October 3, 2025 during a voter registration drive in Nakuru County, Matiang’i urged Jubilee Party members to consider him for the party’s presidential nomination.
“As I encourage them to register as voters, I also ask them to consider me in the presidential candidate nominations. That is what I can say at the moment, as you can see the work has begun,” he stated.
Nationwide mobilisation
Matiang’i outlined a strategy to engage party members across all 47 counties as part of Jubilee’s reorganisation and recruitment drive.
“The party has its organs in place; the special NDC was the beginning of that process. Several activities will take place, including recruitment and reorganisation of the party, and then choosing a presidential candidate will happen. That is why I am talking to party members at the grassroots; this is just the beginning because I am going to visit all 47 counties,” he said.
During a rally in Molo on August 31, 2025, Matiang’i reiterated his focus on action over rhetoric. “Mimi mnipee tu kazi, ni kazi tu naomba; mimi sitakuwa mtu wa masababu sababu...,” he told the crowd.
Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka endorsed Matiang’i, describing him as a leader capable of offering accountable solutions to the country’s challenges in sectors such as education and land.
