Matiang’i begins 3-day tour of Meru county
Jubilee’s presidential hopeful and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i began a three-day tour of Meru County on Saturday, June 6, 2026, marking the start of a series of engagements aimed at interacting with residents and local leaders across the region.
Matiang’i kicked off the tour by joining worshippers at Meru Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he participated in a morning service and reflected on the importance of faith, unity, and national values.
In a statement on his X handle on Saturday, June 6, 2026, Matiang’i expressed gratitude for the opportunity to worship alongside the congregation as the county tour entered its third day. He noted that moments of worship and reflection play a critical role in fostering the values that unite Kenyans and strengthen the country’s social fabric.
“Moments of worship and reflection remind us of the values that bind us together as a nation and strengthen our resolve to build a Kenya founded on integrity, justice, and shared prosperity,” Matiang’i said.

Matiang’i’s visit to Meru County is expected to include meetings with residents, community leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders. The engagements are aimed at listening to the concerns of local communities and discussing issues affecting livelihoods, governance, and development.
Jubilee’s renewed ties with PNU
Matiang’i’s tour, which is hosted by the Party of National Unity party leader Peter Gatirau Munya, comes at a time when political activity is beginning to intensify across the country ahead of future electoral contests, with several leaders increasing their engagements with grassroots supporters. The visit is expected to cement a working relationship between the Party of National Unity (PNU) and the Jubilee Party.

The visit to Meru Central Seventh-day Adventist Church set a reflective tone for the day’s activities, with Matiang’i calling on Kenyans to remain united and committed to building a nation anchored on justice, integrity, and shared prosperity.
Residents are expected to interact with the former Interior CS throughout the tour as he continues his engagements across various parts of Meru County over the coming days.
