Leaders performance, not promises, will define 2026 – Felix Koskei
By Kiprono Keileb, January 1, 2026Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has called for a renewed focus on accountability and results from those in leadership as Kenya steps into 2026.
In a statement posted on X on Thursday, January 1, 2026, Koskei urged both leaders and citizens to hold public office bearers to the highest standards.

“And just as we demand responsibility in our homes, we must demand the same, at an even higher standard, from those entrusted with leadership in our public life. I reiterate that 2026 and the years beyond will usher in a period of accountability. Leadership will be judged not by promises made, but by performance delivered; not by the exuberance of youth or the longevity of service, but by results and a proven track record,” Koskei said.
He emphasised that holding leaders accountable goes beyond rhetoric, insisting that actions and tangible outcomes are the true measure of leadership.
“Those entrusted with the privilege of leadership will be held to account for the service they render and the outcomes they deliver to the people, not for excuses crafted to mask a poverty of ideas or lack of ambition. The measure of leadership is impact, and that standard will apply to all,” he added.

Koskei’s statement comes as the government prepares for a crucial year, with multiple development agendas and public service reforms in focus includong preparation for the 2027 general elections. He highlighted the responsibility of leaders to deliver meaningful results that directly improve the lives of Kenyans.
Felix Koskei said 2026 is a year of performance-driven accountability. Koskei underlined the expectation that public servants and elected officials demonstrate tangible progress rather than rely on promises or political popularity.
