Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has fired a warning salvo to politicians whom he accused of engaging in disrespectful political rhetoric against their rivals.

In what appeared as a salvo directed at his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, Kindiki stated that some of the people were once in high government office and failed to deliver.

He made the sentiments during a meeting with women leaders in Tharaka Nithi County on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

“Wengine wanaongea mambo ya upuzi hapa hawanijui. Hawajui mimi ni nani. Wengine walipwea Kazi kubwa wakashindwa unaona sasa pereperre wanaongea juu yangu. Hawanijui waliniona usiku.

“These people talking aimlessly around do not know me well. Some of them were given big jobs but failed and are now talking about me. They don’t know me well,” he stated.

Respect

“I have not said people should not come here and address the people. They must have respect. They are speaking with lots of pride, and yet they failed to work for the people,” he asserted.

His remarks come after Gachagua warned the deputy president to desist from issuing him threats.

Speaking in the USA on Sunday, August 10, 2025, the DCP party leader challenged his successor to tone down his empty threats.

ACT, don’t threaten.

“I have seen that person called Soprano issuing a lot of threats every day. Oh, mimi ni fire, mimi ni noma. I want to tell him to take time and read Wole Soyinka. In one of his greatest works, he says a tiger does not declare its tigritude, its pounces. So if you are what you say you are, act; don’t keep on threatening,” he told the DP.

He further stated that he will continue advocating for a better and responsive governance without let-up.

“A tiger pounces, so please spare those threats to other characters. Riggy G is beyond threats, and you know it. We must speak for the people of Kenya because if we don’t, there will be no country. I cannot be intimidated; the Gen Zs cannot be intimidated. We will speak for the people of Kenya until we get this regime out and get one that is responsive to the needs of the people of Kenya and respects human rights,” he stated.

Gachagua’s remarks came days after Kindiki joined the growing calls for his arrest, accusing him of endangering national security through reckless remarks.
