Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has asserted that he has not given up on persuading Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to abandon the opposition brigade and join the Kenya Kwanza government.

Speaking to a delegation of grassroots leaders from Kitui County on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, the DP termed Kalonzo as a noble man in the company of wrong politicians.

Noble man

“Kalonzo is a noble and decent man, but he has aligned himself with people promoting divisive rhetoric. I have still not given up on that brother of mine. We cannot accept our brother, a learned man and a scholar to be influenced by people promoting sectarianism,” he said in reference to Kalonzo.

He also fired at politicians spreading tribal rhetoric with a view to sow animosity between groups of people

“I want to urge those in politics to stay away from inciting Kenyans and nd sowing division and wars among the wananchi. Let everyone sell his policies, and those who agree with you will vote for you,” he stated.

“We are on the road to build a new and united Kenya where everyone’s rights are upheld and one that dirreertiates time for politics and time for development,” he posited.

He reiterated the government’s readiness to work with like-minded leaders both within and outside the government in championing the development of the entire country. Kindiki stressed that political affiliations are always transient and should not be used as the basis to discriminate against people.

Courting Kalonzo

“We will continue working with your leaders. Those elected and those serving in government with us to speed up development,” he added.
The DP emphasised that the right to development is a fundamental right for all citizens regardless of their political affiliations.”

“We have categorically said that all citizens have a right to a fair share and fair services. We have those who did not vote for us during the last elections, but will be in the front line to do so this time,” he opined.

His remarks come as the Wiper Party leader remains adamant in his stance of not joining the Kenya Kwanza government.

In response to the government’s overtures to Kalonzo, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, told President William Ruto to stop sending people to look for the leader, insisting that he should speak to him [Gachagua] directly.

“Sisi na nyinyi we are one family. Sindio. Wakati umefika familia ikae pamoja. Na tunaambia Ruto, keep off family matters, sindio? Wewe unatumana ati kila siku watu yako watafute huyu Kalonzo, please, wewe ukitaka Kalonzo uongee na mimi. Yes. Sisi tumeketi na Kalonzo, na viongozi wa Wakamba, na Wakikuyu, na Wameru na Waembu na nimeambiwa for the time being, I’m the family’s spokesman. So wewe kama unataka kuongea na Kalonzo, hapana tumia brokers. Kuja unitafute,” Gachagua said.
