Keep Uhuru out of your mouth, Kirinyaga Woman MP Njeri Maina warns Gladys Wanga
Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina has warned Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga to keep the name of retired president Uhuru Kenyatta out of her mouth.
Taking to her official X account on Monday, December 29, 2025, Maina argued that it is now evident that Wanga is lobbying for a Deputy President position in 2027, but she should do so without maligning Uhuru.
“By now, we all know that Gov. Gladys Wanga wants to be awarded the ‘token’ of Deputy President in 2027; it is within her political rights, but she should keep H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta out of her crass mouth,” Maina wrote on X.

Wanga attacks Uhuru
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party’s top leadership, led by its chairperson, Governor Wanga, and Minority Leader in the National Assembly, Junet Mohamed, has accused Uhuru of plotting to use insiders of the party to cause internal divisions in the Orange party.

On Sunday, while speaking in Homa Bay in the presence of President William Ruto, Wanga attacked Uhuru, accusing him of hiring wheeler-dealers within the party to cause chaos and confusion in the outfit that now enjoys a cordial working relationship with the UDA Party under a broad-based arrangement.
“We have respect for President Uhuru Kenyatta. However, if you want to destroy the ODM Party by sending wheeler-dealers to us, then we reject your plans. We will not take that matter lightly, as we will deal with it perpendicularly,” warned Wanga.

Jubilee responds
Jubilee Party Deputy Organising Secretary Pauline Njoroge has come out strongly in defence of the 4th president, dismissing claims that he is behind growing divisions within the ODM party.
In a statement shared on X on Monday, December 29, 2025, Njoroge said the blame being directed at Uhuru is misplaced, arguing that the real challenges facing ODM stem from unresolved internal differences among its leaders.

Her remarks come amid heightened political tension as parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“It’s obvious that Uhuru Kenyatta’s popularity, even in ODM zones and the reception he got during Baba’s funeral, is really bothering some people. Instead of dealing with their own internal disagreements, they have decided to make him the scapegoat,” she wrote
Njoroge said the reaction to Uhuru’s presence and public reception has exposed deeper cracks within ODM, particularly over its relationship with the current administration. She pointed to a clear divide between leaders who support cooperation with the broad-based government and those who oppose it, saying this split has created confusion and frustration within the party.
