If you did not inhale teargas, endure risky situations such as bullets or police arrests during the Gen Z protests that birthed the broad-based government, then you should never advise me, Activist Kasmuel McOure has warned.

Taking to his X handle on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Kasmuel has expressed shock at some people who have instructed him to walk away from the broad-based government.

In his message, Kasmuel said he will not be moved by people who were absent during the most dangerous moments of the protests.

He has added that his loyalty is tied to the cause that young people fought for, not the opinions of politicians trying to reposition themselves.

Rejects advice firmly

“I will not take direction from any politician who was not with me on the streets last year regarding the broad-based government, their popularity or political status notwithstanding,” part of Kasmuel’s statement reads.

He has insisted that those who ignored the movement have no moral ground to offer guidance now that the government born from the protests is taking shape.

Kasmuel has maintained that the broad-based government remains an unfinished mission.

“We are in this broad-based government until it fully delivers its mandate, and we will own it to the very end.

“Your cheap rhetoric and attempts at political reinvention will not deter us,” Kasmuel said.

He has noted that many young people have stood firm on the reforms they demanded and cannot be swayed by shifting political winds.

Youth front announcement

Kasmuel has also introduced a new direction for youth engagement within government.

“Starting today, we will lobby the government for youth affairs directly, through the Broad-Based Youth Front.

“Politicians have toyed with the youth for far too long,” Kasmuel concluded.

He has said that young people must now take charge of their own advocacy rather than allow leaders to speak on their behalf.

“We will also raise the ante against the indolence and intolerable inefficiency of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports.

“Its dismal performance treats the youth of this country as an afterthought, prioritising personal agendas over the mandate entrusted to them,” the activist wrote on X.

His message has sparked debate online as Gen Z voices continue to push for reforms they believe have not yet been fully delivered.
