Kasmuel McOure: Ruto is on course for a decisive victory in 2027
Prominent youth activist Kasmuel McOure has declared that President William Ruto is on course for a decisive win in the 2027 General Election, citing the superior organisation of the broad-based government over opposition mobilisation efforts.
In a post on his X account (@_KasKazini) on Tuesday, McOure argued that organisational strength, not sporadic street mobilisation, ultimately determines electoral outcomes.
“H.E. President William Ruto is on course for a decisive victory in 2027,” he wrote. “The Broad Based team remains the most organized and structurally prepared political force in the country. While the opposition may out-mobilise us occasionally, organisation, not mobilisation is what eventually determines power.”
The activist, who gained national prominence during the 2024 Gen Z protests, urged Kenyan youth to engage strategically with the President through their political parties rather than remain in emotional opposition.
“It is therefore imperative that the youth move deliberately to negotiate a pre-election pact with him… so that we secure a substantive, transformative role in the next administration, not as mere spectators, but as participants in the exercise of State power,” McOure stated.
He added that young leaders must “find our strategic trade-offs, act with foresight and purpose, and never allow emotion to override good judgement.”

Commitment to Broad-based government
McOure’s stance aligns with his earlier public commitment to the broad-based government formed after the 2024 political crisis.
On January 23, 2026, following a meeting of ODM Young Delegates in Nairobi, he reaffirmed support for Oburu Oginga’s leadership of ODM and pledged to drive the implementation of the government’s 10-Point Agenda.
“As young leaders who have played a role in shaping the Broad-Based Government, we remain committed to its stability, success, and accountability to the Kenyan people,” he said, announcing plans to mobilise youth across counties for “representation with integrity and purpose.”
McOure has consistently emphasised that youth engagement must be strategic and guided by foresight, rather than reactive political emotion.
Opposition divisions and election outlook
McOure’s latest statement comes amid deepening divisions within ODM over whether to back President Ruto’s re-election bid.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, speaking on February 17, 2026, alongside the Luo Council of Elders, called for dialogue among party members opposed to supporting Ruto, warning that “disjointed statements” were fueling community tensions.
Mbadi noted that dissent from figures such as Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino predated the death of former party leader Raila Odinga, but had remained muted out of respect for his authority.
Meanwhile, President Ruto continues to highlight progress on the 10-Point Agenda, hosting the Committee on the Implementation of the Ten-Point Agenda and NADCO Report (COIN-10) at State House on January 21, 2026, reaffirming the government’s commitment to reforms that strengthen democracy and public trust.
