Kalonzo: We will win 2027 elections with over 4 million votes
By Ndiritu Wanjiru, February 28, 2026Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has claimed the United Opposition will decisively win the 2027 General Election by more than four million votes, disregarding the fears that President William Ruto has been challenging the voting process to rule in his favour.
Addressing a United Opposition rally at the Heshima locality of the Bahati Constituency in Nakuru County on Saturday, February 28, 2026, Kalonzo was very optimistic that the coalition would win by a massive majority.

“We assure you that this time round there will be no rigging, and we will win these elections with more than 4 million votes so that Ruto will understand that the country does not belong to him and his allies,” Kalonzo said.
United Opposition is return of Kibaki era
The Wiper leader also explained his current political collaboration with former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, with his former working relationship with the third president of Kenya, Mwai Kibaki, when he was the vice president of Kenya. He stated that, as was the case during the Kibaka days, the new form of cooperation being born in the opposition is based on trust, common purpose and national change agenda. Kalonzo proposed that a reasonable partnership has been proven to yield consistent leadership and relevant development in the past.
The rally was part of the constant mobilisation campaign of the United Alternative Government in the run-up to the 2027 General Election, and leaders have been increasing their efforts to target the Rift Valley region, which has been traditionally considered politically valuable. The area is regarded as a significant part because of the voting power and the symbolic role in national politics.
The opposition tour in the region that was inaugurated on February 27 brings together leaders of the United Alternative Government, among them Gachagua, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, DAP-Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa, and PLP leader Martha Karua. The leaders have been conducting rallies, consultative meetings and grassroots engagements to firm up their political foundation and their unity as they move on to the election.
The United Alternative Government is set to maintain its campaigns in sections of the Nakuru and Laikipia counties as the opposition exerts more pressure to gain ground and become a strong rival to the re-election of President Ruto in 2027.
