Kalonzo storms Nyanza with promise to deliver Raila’s Canaan dream
By Luke Oluoch, November 22, 2025Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has expressed his ambition of continuing Raila Odinga’s political legacy and fulfilling his Canaan dream.
Speaking during a campaign rally in Ugunja, Siaya County, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, Kalonzo described himself as the fitting heir to Raila, pledging to deliver the vision Raila had for the country.
The politician lauded Nyanza residents for being active defenders of the country’s constitution, stressing that he will protect the interests of the region and continue Raila’s quest for better governance.
Canaan’s dream
On his first return to the region after paying tribute to his long-time friend Raila Odinga, Kalonzo assured residents he would protect their interests and continue Raila’s quest to bring in better governance.

“You people are at the forefront of defending our democracy, na kwa sababu baba amelala. Mimi ndio Baba mdogo. Watoto walikuwa wanalia, Baba, Msilie tena. Nitawashikilia, Ruto hatawaua na Kanaani tunaenda,” he stated.
Kalonzo reminisced about his struggles with Baba, detailing the fight and sacrifices he made for Raila, including shelving his ambition for the DP position after Raila proposed Martha Karua as his running mate for the 2022 elections.
Continuing Raila’s legacy
He urged the region to refuse overtures from people he claimed were masquerading as Raila’s friends but were keen on disrupting the unity of the people from the region.
“Now Baba has slept. I want us to remain united in his honour. Let us not allow people who claim to be his friends to disrupt the unity of the people in Luo Nyanza,” he added.
Kalonzo also took the opportunity to campaign for Orodi Odhiambo for the upcoming Ugunja parliamentary seat. He urged the residents to show their support to the Wiper candidate.
“I am glad to be here. We are here to recommend that you elect Orodi Odhiambo as your MP. Through it you will give me the best honour as the Wiper Patriotic Front leader, a party that worked with Baba for a long time,” he stated.
Kalonzo was accompanied by members of the United Opposition, including DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, Senator Agnes Kavindu, lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, and other politicians from the larger opposition coalition.
