State of leadership

Kalonzo, who was joined by opposition figure Eugene Wamalwa, the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader, Urbanus Wambua, and Advocate Ndegwa Njiru, lauded the valiant personalities of such leaders, terming it as key to effecting accountability in the political sphere.
Bringing accountability
“I reaffirmed my solidarity with leaders who refuse to be intimidated and my unwavering stand with a generation whose voices matter and whose lives must never be treated as expendable,” he stated.
He concluded his message by stressing that Kenya’s future belongs to everyone and will be shaped by those prioritising truth, fairness, and accountability instead of fear and silence.
“Kenya belongs to all of us, and its future will be shaped by those who choose truth, fairness, and accountability over fear and silence,” he stated.
His remarks come after he made a pledge to lead Kenya with honesty, integrity, and compassion if elected the nation’s next president.

In a statement on January 7, 2026, Kalonzo affirmed that the United Opposition would uphold the rule of law and respect democratic institutions if they captured power.
Rule of law
“As your Government-in-Waiting, we commit ourselves to truth, to the rule of law, and to leadership that respects institutions, not personal rule, not intimidation, and not the politics of ‘Ruto-bottomism’ that places self-power above the people,” Kalonzo stated.
Kalonzo further assured Kenyans of transparency in governance, emphasising that honesty and accountability would guide every decision.
“We will not lie to the people of Kenya, and we will lead with integrity, compassion, and accountability. Together, we shall Komboa Kenya,” he declared.
