Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has pledged to lead Kenya with honesty, integrity, and compassion, vowing that the United Opposition will uphold the rule of law and respect democratic institutions.

In a statement posted on his X account on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, Kalonzo outlined his vision for a leadership that rejects personal rule, intimidation, and what he described as “Rutobottomism,” a form of politics that prioritises the self over the people.

“As your Government-in-Waiting, we commit ourselves to truth, to the rule of law, and to leadership that respects institutions, not personal rule, not intimidation, and not the politics of Rutobottomism that places self-power above the people,” Kalonzo stated.

Integrity and transparency

Kalonzo further assured Kenyans of transparency in governance, emphasising that honesty and accountability would guide every decision.

“We will not lie to the people of Kenya, and we will lead with integrity, compassion, and accountability,” he declared.

Kalonzo concluded the message with a rallying call to Kenyans, promising a collective effort to improve the nation.

“Together, we shall Komboa Kenya,” he said.

Kalonzo’s manifesto

Kalonzo’s statement comes days after he unveiled a sweeping reform agenda that he says will rescue Kenya from economic hardship, corruption, and democratic backsliding.

In his end-of-year message to the nation on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, Kalonzo pledged to lower the cost of living by scrapping what he described as punitive and unnecessary taxes, including the Affordable Housing Levy.

“We will cut unnecessary taxes like the punitive Affordable Housing Levy, that is a conduit for theft. It is a slush fund period! We will deliver a 24-hour economy that lowers the cost of living, brings back investors and creates real jobs, not Ruto’s fake promises,” Kalonzo stated.

He also promised to restore professionalism in public service, insisting that jobs under his leadership would be awarded on merit rather than political loyalty.

“We will end police brutality, abductions, and fear. Freedoms of expression and assembly will be protected,” he stated.

Kalonzo further committed to delivering affordable and quality healthcare, increasing funding for education, and improving teachers’ remuneration.

“We will strengthen anti-corruption institutions, recover stolen public funds at home and abroad, and hold politicians accountable,” he stated.

“The urgency is now, but change only comes if you act,” he added.
