Former Mukurwe-ini Member of Parliament Kabando wa Kabando has praised Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, describing him as one of the most consistent and influential figures in the country’s opposition politics.

Kabando shared the message on Friday, November 28, 2025, through a statement on X, where he challenged Kalonzo to maintain his political firmness as the opposition reshapes its strategy ahead of 2027.

Kabando said Kalonzo has, over the years, undergone a significant political transformation that has strengthened his image among Kenyans who view him as a steady voice against the current administration.

He noted that the opposition leader has sustained his relevance for more than a decade, positioning himself as a key counterweight to President William Ruto’s leadership.

Kabando reflected on Kalonzo’s political journey and resilience.
“Dear Kalonzo Musyoka: Over time, you have, in a great measure, rebranded your image to gain the stature of an enduring opposition, 13 years on,” he said.

Kabando went on to urge Kalonzo to remain firm, arguing that his presence in the opposition remains critical in the broader political contestation.

“Stay stubborn, you’re a kry cog in the anti-Ruto wheel,” he added.

He also framed his message as one of camaraderie and political solidarity.

“You’re our friend, slam no door. Opportunity meets preparedness,” he said.

By-elections shocker

Kabando’s remarks come amid opposition leaders across different formations reassessing their political strengths following the recently concluded by-elections.

His message appears to position Kalonzo as a central figure in future opposition strategies, particularly as tension between the government and opposition intensifies over issues such as governance, the economy, and electoral integrity.

The Wiper Patriotic Front celebrated a fresh victory in the just-concluded by-election on Thursday, November 27, 2025, where Kisoi Antony was declared the winner in the Mumbuni North Ward race.

The triumph further bolstered Kalonzo Musyoka’s standing within the opposition, offering renewed momentum for the party as it positions itself for the 2027 political contest.

However, the opposition lost in Mbeere North, Malava, and Magarini, where the broad-based-backed candidates won and exerted dominance, sending them back to the drawing board.
