Kabando Kabando hits out at Duale over Raila remarks
Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament (MP) Kabando Wa Kabando has hit out at Defence Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale over his remarks on Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga.
Duale on Tuesday, April 4 called out Raila for rejecting President William Ruto’s proposal of having a parliamentary process in a bid to resolve issues raised during demonstrations.
The CS claimed that Raila was a man desperate for power at whatever cost shortly after he (Raila) proposed a dialogue akin to the 2008 National Accord facilitated by the later former UN Secretary General Koffi Annan.
The CS claimed that Raila was being unrealistic insisting that the opposition leader was using the demos to bulldoze his way to power.
“Raila Odinga is an exposed man desperate for power at whatever cost. How does he equate the current situation to the 2007/08 period and ask for power-sharing under a National Accord arrangement? Mr Odinga you lost the election,
“Your demos have nothing to do with cost of living but a means to bulldoze your way to power. Trust me you will not succeed,” he said.
Kabando responds to Duale
But in a rejoinder, Kabando Wa Kabando called out Duale for picking sides when the constitution stated that a CS should be non-partisan and further asked Duale to focus on his docket.
“As a minister in the sensitive docket of Defence, shouldn’t behave this way. The Constitution of Kenya anticipates, desires that CSs be non-political, nonpartisan, impartial. The Public Officers Ethics Act is a good guide. Please focus on securing our borders beyond ‘Eastleigh’,” he wrote.
