Junet Mohamed celebrates ODM by-election victories
Suna East Member of Parliament (MP) Junet Mohamed has hailed the party’s strong performance in the November 27 mini-polls, describing the victories as a clear signal of the party’s resurgence ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a post on X dated November 28, 2025, Junet wrote: “Congratulations to the ODM Party candidates who’ve emerged victorious in the just concluded by-elections. From Homa Bay, Kilifi to Turkana and elsewhere, the ODM Party lives! We now turn our attention to the 2027 general election with the aim of winning it decisively.”
Junet also extended his congratulations to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party and its allies within the broad-based political formation, acknowledging their recent successes across the country.
“I also congratulate our UDA Party allies in the broadbased political formation for victories registered in Mbeere North, Malava and elsewhere.”

The results confirmed sweeping wins for ODM across several constituencies, reinforcing the party’s grip in its traditional strongholds. In Kasipul Constituency, Homa Bay County, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Boyd Ongondo Were of ODM the winner late Friday.
Returning Officer Rebecca Abwaku announced that Were secured 16,819 votes against independent candidate Philip Nashon Aroko, who received 8,476 votes in a crowded field of 10 candidates.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga joined the celebrations, posting on X: “We witnessed the official announcement of the Kasipul Constituency parliamentary by-election results at Agoro Sare High School and celebrated the victory of our ODM Party candidate, Hon Boyd Were. Congratulations on your victory! Your determination and clear messaging have led to this achievement, and you truly deserve it. Now it’s time to get to work for the people of Kasipul and all Kenyans.”

ODM extends dominance in Nyanza
In Siaya County’s Ugunja Constituency, ODM candidate Moses Omondi dominated the race with 9,227 votes. Wiper Party’s Orodi Odhiambo came second with 1,819 votes, while United Democratic Movement’s Fredrick Ochiel took third place with 1,200 votes.
ODM also recorded victories in Kilifi and Turkana counties, adding to the party’s momentum in the by-elections held in multiple constituencies and wards. The strong showing in Nyanza and other regions is seen as a morale booster for the party’s grassroots ahead of the next general election.
Service delivery and peaceful polls
The IEBC commended voters and stakeholders for the peaceful conduct of the polls across the country. “The Commission would like to thank our voters and stakeholders for their participation and support in the #27thNovByelections,” the electoral body stated, also recognising its officials for their professionalism throughout the exercise.
Speaking after his declaration, newly elected Kasipul MP Boyd Were pledged to focus on development and service delivery, while Ugunja’s Moses Omondi similarly committed to prioritising constituency needs.
