Jumwa to run for governor seat

By , March 9, 2021

Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has declared the quest to succeed Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi in the 2022 polls.

She said she would stop at nothing to fulfill her dream of becoming the first female county boss in the region.

Jumwa made the declaration yesterday in Vipingo in Kilifi South constituency in the presence of Governor Kingi.

The Malindi MP said she passionately supported Kingi in 2013 and 2017 and asked the outgoing governor to return favour and support her.

Addressing a meeting, Jumwa accused some local women leaders of attempting to derail her quest.

Without mentioning names, the vocal MP said some of her colleagues have been working to undermine her even though she supported them in previous elections.
