Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has appeared before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to make clarification on claims he made during the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Delegates Conference (NDC) that he and a group of other politicians rigged the 2017 poll results in favour of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Honourable Waiguru, Rigathi, Kimani Wamatangi, Muthomi Njuki, Mithika Linturi, Alice Wahome, Faith Gitau…we made Uhuru win the election and we are the ones who stole for him,” Kuria claimed.

“The whole team that placed Uhuru at the top is here.”

Following his remarks, the IEBC said that they would investigate the Chama Cha Kazi party leader’s claims which it said were offensive and against its code of conduct.

It is after the conclusion of the investigations that the electoral commission summoned the controversial lawmaker to appear before its Electoral Code of Conduct Enforcement Committee today (on Wednesday, March 30), to defend himself.

Moments before he appeared before the committee, Kuria said that he was at the IEBC offices to “open the servers”.

“At the IEBC to open the servers,” Kuria said.

It is not immediately clear what the MP meant by saying that he was going to “open servers” at the IEBC but the term has commonly been used by Kenyans to refer to revealing the hidden truth about a particular matter.
