‘I am focused on developing ODM youth league’ – Kasmuel McOure reveals on future political plans
Revolutionary artist Kasmuel McOure is making bold moves that would see him get a sit at the table ahead of the 2027 polls.
Speaking on K24 TV’s New Dawn show, McOure whose rise to public limelight was catapulted by his input and eloquence during the anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests, explained that he was more focused on popularising the youth in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Defending the move, Kasmuel maintained that through the ODM Youth League, he would be able to make a meaningful contribution that would help shape the scope of Kenyan politics.
“For me, I am particularly focused on developing the ODM Youth League because that will allow us to sit at the table not just as a heckler but as decision-makers deciding this is how we the youths want to be governed by the government in waiting which is ODM,” Kasmuel stated during a panel discussion on K24 TV.
Joining ODM
On November 10, 2024, Kasmuel joined ODM, a decision which sparked debate among the youthful population whom he associated with during the protests.
After a meeting with party chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Kasmuel said the party was out to revive youth and student leagues across the country.
“If you’re willing to join a substantive political movement for a fair, democratic Kenya where everyone can live with dignity, consider ODM party – the largest pro-people party in East and Central Africa!
“We’re revitalising the Youth and Students’ Leagues and are calling on passionate young Kenyans to help shape our future. Stand with us! Thank you, party chair Gladys Wanga, for your faith and for hosting us this weekend,” Kasmuel said.
Since then, the artist has been vibrant in pushing ODM’s agenda despite falling out with some Gen-Zs.
Weighs on Gachagua’s influence
Besides his political ambition, Kasmuel warned that the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua could not be wished away.
According to the youthful artist, Gachagua’s influence could shake the country ahead of the 2027 polls but maintained it was still early to make that prediction
“There is no denying that Rigathi Gachagua is an influential man however I do not know if that translates into political capital because there have been very many influential people before and I will not say his influence is not here or there.
“Any true student of politics knows that 2027 is still too far to know how that election will go,” Kasmuel affirmed.

Gachagua’s Wamunyoro meetings and his scathing attacks on President William Ruto continue to make headlines. Despite his impeachment, the former DP reinvented himself attracting attention from the Head of State.
During his Western development tour, Ruto slammed Gachagua claiming that he was incompetent and tribal. In a quick rejoinder, Gachagua called out Ruto claiming that he had nothing to show for being in office for two years.
Ruto’s allies were also drawn into the debate with Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi saying that Gachagua could not even become a village elder.
