Governor Mutahi Kahiga among leaders hosting DP Ruto in Nyeri

Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga is among Mt Kenya region leaders hosting Deputy President William Ruto in his Nyeri county tour.

The county head and the DP attended a church service at the Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa (PEFA), Nyeri Cathedral of Grace in Nyeri town.

Kahiga has notably been silent about his political allegiance in the 2022 presidential race.

“True to my earlier call of welcoming all aspirants to Nyeri County, I have this morning joined the Deputy President H.E Dr. William Samoei Ruto for a church service held at Nyeri Town PEFA Cathedral of Grace. I wish to urge all Nyeri residents to remain calm and uphold political tolerance as we welcome and listen to our guests as they inform us of their agenda,” Kahiga stated.

Weeks ago, the county chief attended a meeting convened by ODM leader Raila Odinga. Kahiga blasted the opposition chief for campaigning on a platform of history instead of outlining what the region stands to gain from his administration.

“It is not time to talk about history, it is time to talk about where we are going. We want to discuss matters that make the citizens happy,” he stated.

During the meeting, Jubilee nominated Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda defended the former Prime Minister, saying that history was important and needed to be recounted for a better future.

“Governor Kahiga you are my friend, but let history be narrated. If you don’t know history, then you can’t make an informed decision. So let people be taught,” Kamanda stated.
