By , April 7, 2026

The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) has endorsed Vincent Rotich in the upcoming Emurua Dikirr Constituency parliamentary by-election scheduled for May 15, 2026.

Speaking during the endorsement ceremony at the DCP headquarters on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua revealed that the party will give support to the candidate.

During the meeting, the former deputy president handed over the certificate to the aspirant, whom he referred to as a “young man,” and called upon the local community to offer him their full support.

“kwa hivyo wacha tumpatie certificate yake. Kwa hivyo mimi nimeshukuru sana huyu kijana mwende msaidie,” Gachagua said.

Loosely translate: “Therefore, let us give him his certificate. I am very grateful to this young man. Go and support him,” Gachagua said.

Vacant seat

The Emuua Dikirr set became vacant following the death of the former Member of Parliament Johana Ngeno, who was involved in a helicopter crash.

The accident claimed six lives and triggered a by-election scheduled for May 14, 2026, by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Ng’eno’s sudden death in February 2026 led to the by-election, which not only created a leadership gap but also disrupted a carefully constructed political network in the constituency.

Gachagua expressed his gratitude to the local elders for their efforts in unifying different leaders to ensure they “speak with one voice”.

He stressed the importance of this unity as the campaign moves forward. Gachagua noted that a strategic meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, 2026, where he urged the team to straighten things out and finalise their plans.

He revealed that he is ready to visit the constituency as soon as he is called upon to do so by the constituency leadership.

“Nasikia mko na mkutano kesho, sasa mnyoroshe maneno kabisa mkiwa tayari mimi niko tayari. Nipigie simu mniambie fika siku fulani saa fulani,” Gachagua said.

“I heard you have a meeting tomorrow, so set everything, and once you’re ready, I’m ready. Call me and tell me to come on a specific day at a specific time,” Gachagua said.
