Gachagua holds strategy meeting after returning from UK tour
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua held a meeting with his close allies early on Monday, May 25, 2026, shortly after jetting back into the country from his UK tour.
In a statement shared by Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa, he revealed that they had held a briefing meeting with Gachagua following a highly successful visit to the UK at the Democracy for Citizens (DCP) headquarters.
“This morning, I held a briefing meeting with H.E. the People’s Deputy President, Riggy G, following his return last night from a highly successful UK tour.”

Thang’wa stated that consultation and unity among Kenyans were now more important than ever, especially at a time when, according to him, the community and the country were facing sustained attacks from President William Ruto, his party leadership, and some of his allies.
“This morning, I held a briefing meeting with H.E. the People’s Deputy President, Riggy G, following his return last night from a highly successful UK tour.”
He further urged Kenyans of goodwill to stand together against what he termed ‘tribal politics’ that could push the country into chaos and bloodshed for political convenience.
”Kenyans of goodwill must stand together against the few tribal mongers who are pushing this country toward chaos and bloodshed for political convenience.”
Cutting short UK trip
This comes days after the former deputy president announced that he had cut short his tour to the United Kingdom, which was slated to take a month, but instead reduced it to just one week.
He stated that the reason behind this move was that Kenyans had told him there was no way he could remain in a foreign land while they were suffering, as they expected him to be in the country defending them against what he termed the excesses of the current regime.
Gachagua breaks silence

The former DP also held a press conference on the same day, breaking his silence following his tour to London and addressing issues bedevilling Kenyans while he was away.
He took issue with the recent breach of President William Ruto’s security while in Kilifi, saying that the president has become too exposed.
He added that despite his personal differences with the president and despite Ruto being what he termed ‘unpopular’, everybody wants the president to remain safe.
