Gachagua fits Muguka farms, market in door-to-door push for Karish
By Kiprono Keileb, November 20, 2025Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua continued his grassroots campaign in Mbeere North on Thursday, November 20, 2025, engaging directly with farmers and traders.
“We are in the village with the people listening to them and their aspirations. We do so because it is the people at whose command we serve,” Gachagua said, emphasising his hands-on approach to connecting with constituents.

The campaign trail began at Mùgùka farms and Mla Chake Muguka Market in Nthawa Ward, where Gachagua met with local farmers who grow and trade Muguka, a crop central to the local economy. Speaking with the traders, he highlighted the need for a representative who could champion the marketing of Muguka produce and ensure fair prices.
“Listening to the farmers and traders here, without doubt, Mbeere North deserves a selfless people representative to champion marketing of Muguka produce and good prices,” he said.

Gachagua urged the Muguka farming community to support Newton Kariuki, popularly known as Karish, in the upcoming parliamentary by-election.
“I have requested the Muguka farmers and traders to give Newton Kariuki, alias Karis, that chance because this is what he stands for, thus fitting the bill,” he added.
Later in the morning, Gachagua visited Mlachake Market to engage with Miraa traders, a vital group in the local trade ecosystem, before joining villagers at the home of Mzee Simon in Munandari Witwa Village for a cup of tea and informal conversation.

He described the interactions as an interesting morning conversation, showing his commitment to listening to residents directly.
