Gachagua embarks on signature walk for door-to-door campaign in Mbeere North
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has embarked on a door-to-door campaign in Mbeere North, urging residents to support Democratic Party (DP) candidate Newton Karish ahead of the November 27, 2025, by-election.
Gachagua, in his post on his X account, posted on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, described the villagers as hardworking and expressed optimism about the upcoming vote.
“They are hardworking and are looking forward to the November 27, 2025, vote for Newton Karish,” the statement read.

During his visit, Gachagua said he was moving through the constituency every step of the way, one by one, home by home, village by village.
“I am with the villagers every step of the way, one by one, home by home, village by village, in a motif to liberate one nation, Kenya,” he stated on a post
The former DP also shared his experience walking through the community, interacting with voters, and gauging their views on local leadership.
“I had an interactive experience in my morning walk on a vote drive for my favourite candidate, Newton Karish, who is a people-centred candidate,” the statement read.

Gachagua framed the campaign as part of a broader push for change in Mbeere North, emphasising the importance of electing leaders who prioritise the welfare of the people. “Change is in Mbeere North,” he added.
The door-to-door approach allowed Gachagua to meet residents directly, listen to their concerns, and encourage participation in the electoral process.
Kindiki in Pitching camp in Mbeere North
Newton Karish, the candidate endorsed by Gachagua, is now facing stiff competition from United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Leonard Muthende in the by-election, which has attracted significant attention across Mbeere North.
Gachagua’s active engagement reflects a strategy aimed at strengthening Karish’s support base through personal interaction, a method that has become increasingly important in Kenya’s competitive local politics.

This comes as Deputy President Kithure Kindiki pitches camp in Mbeere North to counter Gachagua. Kindiki, flanked by a host of Kenya Kwanza leaders, on Monday, November 17, 2025, unleashed a sweeping attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was holding a parallel campaign only a few miles away in support of Democratic Party (DP) candidate Newton Karish.
