Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has come out to declare that in the 2027 polls, his party will dominate Nairobi, securing victory in at least 15 out of its 17 constituencies.

Speaking during an interview with Kamba radio stations on Wednesday, February 26, 2027, Gachagua boasted that he, alongside his new political ally Kalonzo Musyoka, would be the dominant voices in the country, as they would win the majority of voter support across Kenya.

“Hii Nairobi hii tutaketi vizuri na mheshimiwa Kalonzo, and between ourselves hapa Nairobi tutaongoza. And it is good for our people, wapate biashara. Na hilo ni ombi langu,” Gachagua said.

The former Mathira MP went further to list the Nairobi constituencies he was confident they would sweep, naming Embakasi East, Kibra, Mathare, and Makadara as just a few of the 15 he was sure of.

He also added that while they would be dominating Parliament with a majority of MP seats, the number of MCA wins would be overwhelming, stating that this was how they would end up forming the next government—much to the shock of their rivals.

“Kwa hivyo hilo ni ombi. Kiti cha Mathare, Embakasi East, Makadara, hata hii Kibra tukikubaliana vizuri na watu tutachukua. Actually, 15 constituencies out of 17. And alliance ya GEMA—Gikuyu, Embu, Meru—na Akamba, we should take 15 seats, and countless seats za MCA. So that tuongoze vizuri na tuongoze Wakenya in those respective capacities,” he added.

According to Gachagua, the political strategies they are currently putting in place will bear so much fruit that William Ruto will be left bewildered, wondering what went wrong, as they teach him an unforgettable lesson by sending him home.

He took a direct jab at him, saying that 2027 would be the moment when the wheat will be separated from the chaff because the president had been looking down on certain communities, which, he warned, was a grave mistake.

The former Deputy President maintained that Ruto’s downfall would be self-inflicted, citing a series of grievances, including state-sponsored abductions and poor governance, which, he claimed, had significantly eroded the president’s credibility among ordinary citizens.

“Anaona nyinyi ni watu tu hamfai. Anadharau jamii ya Kikamba. Ndio maana tunafaa kuchukua kura ndio tumfunze adabu awache kutukana jamii na viongozi. Na njia ya kufanya hivyo ni kushikana na wengine. Sisi tuko na rekodi ya kwamba sisi ni wa ukweli. Sisi na Wakamba tuko pamoja kama chanda na pete,” he declared.

Warning to voters

Gachagua, who just two days ago while speaking in Meru banned Ruto from touring the Mt. Kenya county if he impeached Martha Koome, also hit out at Kenyans who register as voters in Nairobi but travel upcountry to cast their ballots.

He lamented that this practice often benefits parties that Nairobi residents do not support, urging them to vote only in the constituencies where they are registered.

“Ukiona siku ya kura utakuwa wapi? Utakuwa Kathonzweni ama utakuwa pale Matuu kwenda kuchukua kura yako nyumbani? Ndio siku ya kura uende nyumbani upigie kura huko. Lakini usichukulie kura nyumbani uje kupigia Nairobi ama uchukulie Nairobi uende kupigia nyumbani.

According to him, Nairobi loses over half of its approximately 2.4 million votes due to this habit, as over one million registered voters usually travel upcountry to vote, while others simply take advantage of the public holiday.

“Sasa hii ni mambo gani? Please, kama ulichukulia Nairobi, kaa Nairobi. Ndio naonanga every year kuna kura kama 1 million yenye haipigwi. Unakuta registration ni around 2.4 million, lakini ile inakuja kupigwa ni 1 million ati watu wameenda kupiga nyumbani.”
