Farouk Kibet hints at running for Turbo parliamentary seat in 2027
By Mabonga Makhanu, February 25, 2026President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet has hinted at vying for the Turbo Constituency parliamentary seat in 2027.
Speaking during a visit by Muslims to his home in Chepsaita for iftar, the outspoken leader addressed the Muslim community living in Turbo Constituency for a long duration, promising them a wide range of projects, including building mosques and madrasas for Muslims in the area.
He told them that when they see him speaking a lot, they should know that he is eyeing a seat in the area.
The president’s right-hand man continued to state that he had read the faces of the Muslims who had converged at his home, and they seemed to be telling him to go for an elective seat.
However, he emphasised that it was up to the electorate to decide which seat he should contest.

He further told the Muslim community to wait until the holy month of Ramadan is over, after which they would guide him on the seat he should go for.
According to Farouk, power lies with the people, and that principle informed his decision to let the Muslims advise him on the choice of seat.
“Ukiona nikiongea maneno mengi hii, ukiangalia nyuso zenu najua kuna kitu. Watu watakuja kuniambia baada ya Ramadan. Si nyinyi kuna kitu mmeona kwangu? Sasa ni nyinyi mtakuja kuniambia mmeona kizuri kwangu,” he said.
“Sio hio kitu kizuri, tuache hii Ramadan ipite? Ni nyinyi mtakuja kuniambia kama nitakaa kwa kiti ama mtanipea kiti kingine. Mmenielewa, si nyinyi wenye mamlaka, si nyinyi wenye kutengeneza watu.”
Farouk also echoed his slogan for the Turbo Constituency, “Turbo Kwanza, Mambo Bado”, urging them to embrace it.
Farouk’s attack on Turbo MP

This comes at a time when he has been heavily critical of the incumbent Turbo MP Janet Sitienei.
He criticised her for skipping a fundraiser at Kamagut Primary School, which falls under her jurisdiction. Kibet questioned Sitienei’s commitment to her constituents, accusing her of abandoning voters and failing to engage with them on the ground.
He also criticised the lawmaker for showing lukewarm support for President William Ruto and for failing to deliver for the Turbo locals.
“You have the guts to skip an event being held in your constituency where the president comes from? We will not accept that,” he said.
“Don’t hate your people this much. Where will you ferry other people to vote for you? You are not assisting the president at home, and you are not assisting him away either. Where do you stand?”
