Democracy For Citizens (DCP) National Youth Leader Wanjiku Thiga has warned President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government that they are headed to a resounding defeat in the coming general election in 2027.

Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Friday, December 19, 2025, Thiga stated that the government was in for a rude shock for disregarding the real plights of ordinary people.

According to Nthiga, Ruto’s government has failed to embrace the reality and accept their rejection from Kenya.

“As the DCP, we are telling the reality on the ground. Kenya is not headed in the right direction. I love how they don’t want to listen and the bravado they are showing. It is working for us. They will be beaten by a shock as DCP marches into the state house in 2027 and realises the dream of every young Kenyan and person,” he stated.

The youthful leader tore into the administration for the privatisation of public assets, stating that it is meant to serve a few in the public service and make profits.

“Ruto has now dropped the hustler narrative. I am left wondering who is left to be taken along to his Singapore dream. The privatisation is about profits to certain people. It is not about the public good or the interests of Kenyans,” she added.

“What we want to see is the state serving for the good of the public and not the interests of a few people.”

Her remarks come after their coalition rival, ODM Youth leader Kasmuel McOure, stated that Ruto’s second term is more certain than any other time before.

Speaking to a local TV station on Friday, December 19, 2025, Kasmuel alluded to Ruto’s newfound confidence and trust among the masses, terming it a gradual regaining of the low public confidence and popularity levels he had lost in recent years.

“Remember, a while back, Ruto could not even go out to the public and hold rallies freely in certain areas. Yesterday, he mobilised a political rally at night in Nairobi. He has gone to Central [Kenya], where he would never have been welcomed before, and now people are shouting ‘two terms,’” he said.

“If the current political trends hold and things stand as they are, he will become president again,” he asserted.
