DCP engages Nakuru youth leaders in push for inclusivity
The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Secretary General, Hezron Obaga, has engaged with youth leaders from Nakuaru County.
According to a statement by the DCP party on Thursday, July 24, 2025, the meeting was held at the party’s headquarters in Nairobi as part of a push for inclusivity within the party.
“Later in the afternoon, the Secretary General met with youth leaders from Nakuru. The agenda was clear: Youth Inclusivity in the Party,” read the statement in part.
Among the youth leaders were Wainaina Gichere, Nakuru Town East Constituency Aspirant Njai Jackson Mugo, President of the Nakuru County Students Association, and Francis Kafue, Youth Leader of Nakuru County.

This comes two months after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua unveiled the party.

Speaking at the party headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, on Thursday, May 15, 2025, Gachagua said that he has spent the last 6 months at his home holding consultations to help shape his political party.
He noted that his party has been forged on the backdrop of the need to provide better leadership for Kenyans and pull them out of the long-standing problems of poor governance.

“Kenyans have boldly told us they have a solution to the problems facing them. Kenyans have asked us to start a party which will form a government by the people for the people,” he noted.
He added that the DCP party has no preferred candidates and will prioritise the voices of Kenyans, hence the party slogan “Skiza Wakenya” which means “Listen to Kenyans.”
The ex-DP added that the party is keen on inclusivity and has onboarded representatives from all groups across the country, including Gen Zs.
The party’s symbol is a hand holding an ear, symbolising the act of listening to netizens, with its official colours being green, red, white, and black.
