DCP details key events ahead of its official launch

The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, held its first official meeting with party aspirants from Murang’a County as part of its broader political mobilisation strategy.
The meeting took place at the party’s Murang’a branch office and brought together aspirants and officials to deliberate on recruitment, grassroots mobilisation, and preparations for the party’s upcoming national launch.
“The inaugural Murang’a DCP aspirants meeting was held today at the party’s branch office in Murang’a. The forum focused on party recruitment, grassroots mobilisation, and preparations for the upcoming national launch,” DCP said in a statement.
The session was chaired by DCP Secretary General Hezron Obaga alongside Murang’a County Coordinator PS Joseph Irungu Wairagu (Wamae). National Vice Chair Mably Owino and Diaspora Secretary Alvinah Kabura also attended the meeting.
“The meeting was chaired by Secretary General Hezron Obaga and the Murang’a County Coordinator, PS Joseph Irungu Wairagu (Wamae). Also in attendance were National Vice Chair Mably Owino and Diaspora Secretary Alvinah Kabura, who reaffirmed the party’s commitment to inclusive leadership and citizen-driven politics,” they added.

The party emphasised its focus on inclusive leadership and citizen-centred governance. Aspirants from Murang’a pledged to enhance local outreach efforts and advance the party’s core values under the Skiza Wakenya agenda.
The Murang’a meeting marks the beginning of a county-level rollout strategy as the DCP continues to structure itself nationally ahead of future political contests.
“Murang’a aspirants pledged to intensify local engagement and uphold the values of Skiza Wakenya,” they concluded.
Party launch
This comes just days before the official party launch, which was initially scheduled for July 7. The party leader, Rigathi Gachagua, relocated the launch from Nairobi to the Maa region due to ongoing interference, including the infiltration of his meetings by hired goons.
Gachagua appealed to the Maa community to identify a suitable venue for the launch and called on them to protect the meeting from any form of disruption and to provide security.
The party’s official launch had earlier been slated for June 3, but Sports Kenya cancelled their earlier booking of Kasarani Indoor Arena, where the event was supposed to be held.
