Public Service and Human Capital Development Cabinet Secretary Goeffrey Ruku has elbowed the United Alternative Government leaders, accusing them of lacking a meaningful development agenda despite having held powerful positions in previous governments.

Speaking on Saturday, May 9, 2026, during a tour of Moyale, Ruku defended President William Ruto’s administration and challenged opposition leaders to account for their own records while in office.

Ruku accused some opposition politicians of engaging in tribal politics and spreading propaganda aimed at undermining the Kenya Kwanza administration ahead of the 2027 general election.

“There are people with corrupt hearts and tribal politics, and we know them. They are going around claiming that they will bring down the government of His Excellency William Ruto,” Ruku said during the public address.

The CS directly named prominent opposition figures, including Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Jubilee Deputy party leader Fred Matiang’i, and Democracy for the Citizens (DCP) boss Rigathi Gachagua, criticising their past performance in government.

“You who once held senior positions in government, you, Kalonzo, were the Vice President of our country, Kenya; you, Matiang’i, served as a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Kenya; and you, Wamunyoro, were given the position of Deputy President, yet you failed in your duties,” Ruku stated.

The CS argued that Kenyans should evaluate leaders based on their record of service delivery rather than political rhetoric and alliances formed for electoral convenience.

“Now you have come together, and your work is to go around spreading the filth that is in your hearts and misleading Kenyans. You have no agenda or ideas; your work is intrigue and hatred,” he added.

Ruku maintained that the Kenya Kwanza administration remains focused on transforming the country through development-driven policies and equitable distribution of resources across all regions.

According to the CS, the government has continued implementing projects aimed at improving infrastructure, strengthening public service delivery, and uplifting vulnerable communities.

He said the administration is committed to ensuring that all Kenyans benefit from government programmes regardless of political affiliation.

The Public Service CS further expressed confidence that President Ruto would secure re-election in 2027 due to what he described as the administration’s strong development track record.

Ruku said ongoing investments in roads, social programmes, and reforms within the public service sector are evidence that the government is prioritising the needs of ordinary wananchi over political confrontation.

During the Moyale tour, the CS reiterated that the government’s agenda is centred on economic empowerment, inclusivity, and improving access to essential services in marginalised regions such as Marsabit County.

His remarks come amid heightened political activity and growing opposition criticism of the Kenya Kwanza government over the state of the economy and governance issues.

However, Ruku dismissed the opposition’s attacks as politically motivated, insisting that leaders who previously served in top government offices have no moral authority to criticise the current administration without demonstrating their own achievements while in power.
