CS Ogamba rallies Gusii and Kuria leaders behind Ruto’s agenda ahead of 2027
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, evening, convened a high-level consultative meeting bringing together leaders and professionals from the Gusii and Kuria communities.
Taking to his official X account moments after the meeting that was held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi, Ogamba revealed that the session, which followed an initial consultative meeting held in March 2025, focused on aligning the community’s development priorities with President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The meeting comes amid political realignments as the country edges closer to the 2027 General Election.
“This evening, I convened a consultative meeting of Gusii and Kuria leaders and professionals at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi. The session was a follow-up to the first consultative meeting we held in March this year, aimed at aligning our community goals and development plans with the Kenya Kwanza Administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” Ogamba stated.

Ogamba’s meeting attendees
Ogamba’s meeting was attended by Solicitor General Shadrack Mose, Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Communications Stephen Isaboke, Members of Parliament Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango), Innocent Obiri (Bobasi), and Daniel Manduku (Nyaribari Masaba), Ambassadors Joash Maangi and Josephat Maikara, as well as Members of County Assemblies, vice chancellors, CEOs, state corporation board members, senior civil servants, clergy, academicians, teachers’ unions, women’s groups, and youth representatives.

With the 2027 elections gradually coming into focus, the consultative forum was seen as a strategic effort to consolidate regional support behind President Ruto as part of efforts to dilute former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s popularity in the region.
Matiang’i, who is currently working together with the United Opposition team, has declared his interest in the 2027 presidency.
United Opposition’s plan
The United Opposition on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, held a consultative meeting from which they appointed former UNCTAD Chair Mukhisa Kituyi as their spokesperson and head of the opposition secretariat.
In a statement released by former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, PLP party leader Martha Karua, Matiang’i, and DAP-K party leader Eugine Wamalwa, Mukhisa will serve as their spokesman ahead of the 2027 polls.
“The United Opposition has appointed Hon. Dr Mukhisa Kituyi as its spokesperson and the head of the opposition secretariat,” a statement shared on social media by the opposition leaders read.
