The committee overseeing the implementation of the 10-point agenda and the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report is set to hold talks with President William Ruto at State House.

Leaders allied to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, led by chairperson Cecily Mbarire, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, and his Senate counterpart Aaron Cheruiyot, announced during a press briefing at the party headquarters on Wednesday, January 21, 2025.

During his address, Senator Cheruiyot stated that the committee would meet with the president on Wednesday, January 21, 2025, to brief him on the progress made so far regarding the implementation of the 10-point agenda and the NADCO report.

He noted that the report formed the basis of the broad-based arrangement between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the UDA party in March 2025.

“The team on the implementation of the 10-point agenda will be meeting President William Ruto this afternoon; they will be briefing him on the progress made so far.” Aaron Cheruiyot said.

With the implementation of the 10-point agenda being one of the deliberations by ODM’s Central Management Committee (CMC), which tasked party leader Oburu Odinga to initiate structured negotiations with the UDA party, Cheruiyot said this would form the foundation of the talks.

Ichungwah’s take

Kimani Ichung’wah, on his part, echoed his Senate counterpart, stating that he had already held an engagement with the team in December 2025 and that the implementation process was on course. He added that the afternoon meeting between the team and the president would largely be a briefing.

He further stated that negotiations between the ODM and UDA parties go beyond the 10-point agenda, adding that it is UDA’s intention to bring all Kenyans on board in an effort to build an all-inclusive nation and form a government together with their ODM counterparts.

Calls for implementation

The implementation of the 10-point agenda has been a subject of public debate in recent times. Vihiga Senator and ODM Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi recently came out strongly, stating that his party was more focused on coalitions with UDA than on the implementation of the 10-point agenda as envisioned by the late party leader Raila Odinga.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua also weighed in a few months ago, criticising Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga and telling him that despite calling for its implementation, the president would not implement the 10-point agenda due to a lack of goodwill.
