Cherargei: Ruto-Raila cooperation will foster national unity

Nandi Senator Samson Cheragei has said that the cooperation between President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will foster national unity, ahead of the anticipated signing of the working partnership agreement.

In a statement via his official X account on Friday, March 7, 2025, Cherargei disclosed that the Kenya Kwanza administration under the leadership of Ruto is set to formalize a partnership with Odinga’s party Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) today at the Kenyatta international conference centre (KICC).

According to Nandi Senator, the agreement is aimed at deepening and broadening the existing cooperative arrangements between the two political entities, with a clear focus on fostering national unity.

The vocal legislature added that the partnership will also play a crucial role in the advancement of national cohesion.

“At 11 am Today at Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) the Kenya Kwanza administration will sign a working partnership with the Orange Democratic Movement(ODM ) Party to deepen and widen broad-based arrangements. This shall foster national unity, peace, equity development, prosperity of our nation,” he said.

The collaboration between Kenya Kwanza and ODM is seen as a key strategy to bridge political divides and create a more inclusive environment for policy-making and governance, this partnership is expected to pave the way for a broader national agenda.

Ruto-Raila partnership

In a statement after chairing the Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group meeting, Ruto hinted at the cooperation between his administration and the ODM party.

“This is the time to put Kenya and the people ahead of any other consideration. We will work together, our political inclinations notwithstanding, to take our country forward. Kenya, and the people, must succeed. At State House, Nairobi chaired the Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group meeting,” Ruto said.

According to several lawmakers from both ODM and the Kenya Kwanza side, the two factions are expected to extend the broad-government arrangement.

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa, in a statement after meeting with Ruto at State House, talked about unity in a statement he posted on his X account; “Kenya united: our foundation for progress, our path to prosperity, and our shared future in development—Unity of the nation for a stronger tomorrow,”

Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda signalled the signing of a new deal by posting on social media; ‘Today is a big day, the beginning of the journey to President Ruto’s reelection in 2027!’

Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi also hinted at the new alliance by posting, ‘Here comes the day.’
