Cecily Mbarire warns UDA aspirants against bragging ahead of by-elections
The ruling United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA) National Chairman Cecily Mbarire, has challenged the party’s aspirants to conduct their campaigns with humility as the ruling party seeks to assert its dominance in the upcoming by-elections
Speaking on Monday, September 8, 2025, during the issuance of certificates to the various party aspirants in Nairobi, the governor implored them to humbly engage the wananchi, stressing that a prideful attitude could hurt the party’s chances.
Humility
“Go seek the seats with humility; don’t go about bragging that we are the government, and we will win whether we like it or not. That is not our style or that of our leader, William Ruto,” she asserted
“Go ask for votes with humility, and I’m sure we will bring them home,” she said
Mbarire further assured the aspirants of the party’s support in helping them deliver the seats, urging them to work hard and ensure the party wins all the positions up for grabs.
“Let us keep the UDA flying high. I want you to promise, are you going to bring this seat home? “We are happy to go and work hard and make the party proud,” she added.
The ruling party faces a tough task ahead of them with former DP Rigathi Gachagua and the Wiper Patriotic Front led by Kalonzo’s party posing a strong challenge in the various parliamentary and ward seats.

In their quest to recapture the Mbeere North seat, UDA settled on its candidate in the parliamentary seat, with Leonard Muthende picked as the party’s candidate for the by-elections.
Meanwhile, the opposition’s foray and attempts to take over the seat left vacant by Geoffrey Mbui’s appointment as Public Service CS suffered a huge setback following the recent defection of Nicholas Mbui.
Mbui, who had initially been campaigning as a DCP candidate, announced that he will run as an independent
“We have always been independent and shall win as INDEPENDENT,” Mbui stated in a major turnaround that could rock the budding opposition outfit.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party (DP) earlier unveiled Newton Kariuki, popularly known as Newton Karish, as its flag bearer for the by-election
