Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi, who also serves as an integral member of the Edwin Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi team, has disclosed that they will soon unveil the leadership lineup of their political formation, following the Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) upcoming National Delegates’ Conference (NDC).

While speaking during an interview with the Alfa House Podcast, aired on Friday, March 13, 2026, the outspoken second-term lawmaker stated that it will happen very soon after the NDC, the party’s highest decision-making organ, is convened.

He continued to state that the reason behind their waiting for this time is because they do not want their cards to be exposed too early since, according to him, when their team leader is exposed early, he can be subjected to intimidation and even extreme actions such as arrest or being kidnapped by their rivals.

“It’s good to hide your cards. You can’t expose your leader; the next minute, you will hear he has been kidnapped. We will soon give our lineup after Sifuna has called the NDC.”

He again added that it will be an open democracy where anyone who believes in their ideals is free to seek a leadership position within the formation and even challenge anybody who has been given a chance but does not seem to fit that role.

He emphasised that the NDC must be called by its secretary general, Edwin Sifuna, who was recently removed from his position and replaced by his then-deputy, Catherine Omanyo, the Busia Woman Representative, for it to be legal.

He also warned against plans to mobilise goons to disrupt the NDC, saying that should they do so, their efforts will be met with equal measure.

Proposed Linda Mwananchi lineup

This comes days after Caleb Amisi urged Sifuna to wrestle the ODM party from Oburu Odinga, which, after that, should evict members who, according to him, are against the soul of ODM and replace them with people who are ready to preserve the soul and heart of the Orange party.

He went ahead to state that if Sifuna managed to seize the party from Oburu, he should install himself as the party leader or Siaya Governor James Orengo as the party head, with him (Sifuna) taking the position of secretary general.

Alternatively, he suggested that even Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who in the recent past has been eyeing the party leader position and has been pushing for an ODM NDC to be convened to take over the party leadership, be given the party leader position, with either Sifuna or Orengo taking the deputy or secretary-general positions.

ODM cracks

The crack in ODM began due to a difference in opinion, with one group led by Oburu Odinga supporting the party backing President William Ruto for his second term. At the same time, the Sifuna-led faction opposed the idea and wanted the party to field its own candidate for president.

This led to a split, with two factions emerging — the Linda Mwananchi faction and the Linda Ground faction — both led by party leader Oburu Odinga, all vying to outdo each other.
